Welcome to Our Journey
Benjamin Academy is a private school south of Atlanta, designed to meet the needs of children who learn differently. We promote growth while establishing a unique lesson plan designed to meet student needs in the classroom daily. Most children who enroll at our school have not been successful in a typical classroom setting. Despite many small accommodations, the larger classroom size often prohibits an opportunity for children to achieve their full potential. As children progress, parents find their children may need a classroom conducive to their individual needs. Benjamin Academy is a school is for high functioning students, who after a diagnosis determines they may need a different learning environment. As we work to ensure all students have the appropriate environment for their needs, currently we are unable to serve students with Emotional and Behavioral Disorders, Behavior Intervention Plans, Oppositional Defiant Disorder or other Conduct Disorders.
At Benjamin Academy we provide assistance in the classroom by promoting a small classroom setting, individual lesson plans which allow additional time or breaks if needed, along with traditional methods of learning which are taught in a general classroom setting. We combine technology, educational Community Based field trips and social gatherings thereby developing communication and peer interaction for our student population.
If your child struggles with reading, math, communication, comprehension, social groups or basic life skills, our school may be an option. We offer a traditional maintstream academic track, an alternative track, and our newly created transitional/post high school track. Students can be taught on their own timeline with our PACE and LEAP programs, to achieve their maximum potential. Homeschooled students are accepted with "transient" status. Why Benjamin Academy?
Our small class size has proved successful for an optimal learning experience. One-on-One assessments are conducted with each student to ensure they are on a successful track for independence. In short, we accept students where they are. All students enrolled must exhibit independent use of bathroom hygiene and no aggressive behaviors.
We offer an academic track, utilizing STEAM, preparing your child for college. We also offer an alternative track in our academic testing, with a strong emphasis on life skills preparing your child for successful employment in the local community and beyond. Our learning atmosphere promotes a realistic approach to learning, with less anxiety students may experience with a larger group of students per classroom.
To assist us on this journey, we work with educated teachers, with certifications and concentration to support our small classroom learning. We also partner in our community with Speech Therapists, Occupational Therapists, and Physical Therapists in our classroom group setting as needed. For parents of children who realize they may be on an alternative track, we support full attainment of life skills. We promote articulation content with our curriculum, allowing students to engage in conversations which are necessary before they begin the journey of college interviews and employment interviews. For specific areas of articulation, individual sessions of speech therapy maybe an option for your child and is available onsite, if your child requires this service.
