Benjamin Academy 2019-2020 School Year

Consider Benjamin Academy for the needs your child for the following:

1. Academics

At Benjamin Academy, students strive for success academically, and at their own pace. We empower all students to excel in a small classroom environment, promoting low anxiety for a positive outcome.

  • Reading (Use of blends, word decoding, encoding, basic comprehension), Orton-Gillingham
  • Math (Traditional and Touch Math)
  • Science (Live Experiments)
  • Social Studies
  • English Language (Social Concept)

2. Low Student: Teacher Ratio

Our teachers are committed to student success individually. A classroom of 1 teacher and 1 assistant is our normal teaching scenario.

We can combine students for a group setting, if proven beneficial for the classroom setting.

3. Peer Group Conversation

Conversations are a normal process, however sometimes our children struggle with knowing "how" to start or maintain. We promote language groups, and social skills while in the classroom and lunch periods.

4. Specific Needs Addressed

Some students who are accepted at Benjamin Academy may have a dignosis of ADD/ADHD, Mild Autism, Asperger's, Mild Intellectual Delay, and Communication Disorders (verbal or non verbal). We provide individual learning plans for most students. Students are accepted into an "anxiety free" environment are able to maintain consistent use of bathroom hygiene with no student behaviors. Currently we are unable to serve students with Emotional and Behavioral Disorders, Oppositional Defiant Disorder or other Conduct Disorders.

As we are parents and guardians of children who may have varying learning styles, it is imperative we Champion and Support our students whenever possible. Please take a moment to review our Parent manual below. By working together, we can achieve our goal!

Parent Commitment

Parents and guardians, it is our mission to CHAMPION our students wins while SUPPORTING their losses. Please review our tools and techniques to keep our students on target for daily commitments.

  • Read and Adhere to the School Handbook regarding uniform colors and dress attire for ladies and gentlemen of our school.
  • To prepare each student daily, please arrive 10 minutes early allowing a fresh "anxiety free" start to the school day.
  • If visiting the school, check in at the front office to sign in as required by BENJAMIN ACADEMY policy to ensure the safety of all children and staff.
  • Facilitate the home/school communication effort by monitoring and enforcing the use of the agenda planner by the student, parent, and teacher. Please be sure to read each day.
  • Complete the logged access daily of each student's progress.
  • Read for 30 minutes per day, after school hours on a topic which you can discuss at your peer group the next day.
  • Sign Up for Parent/Teacher conference preferences as soon as possible. Webinars or onsite are options.
  • Review your child's personal academic folder bi-annually, to ensure all information is up to date. Report all changes to the Director or Administrator within 1 week of the change.
  • Provide immediate communication if your child comes down with cough, fever or illness. We can provide alternatives for school classroom assignments if needed. We strive to provide a "fever free" environment at all times.
  • Encourage and Empower your child during the morning drive to school. It makes a great difference in their approach to certain situations.
