Benjamin Academy 2023-2024 School Year
Consider Benjamin Academy for the needs your child for the following:
1. Academics
At Benjamin Academy, students strive for success academically, and at their own pace. We empower all students to excel in a small classroom environment, promoting low anxiety for a positive outcome.
- ELA (Use of blends, word decoding, encoding, basic comprehension), Orton-Gillingham
- Math (Traditional and Touch Math)
- Science (Live Experiments)
- Social Studies
- Social Skills (Social Concept)
Formative, Interim and Summative assessments are given to each student in forms of Quiz, Test, and Essay as evidence of didactics taught at Benjamin Academy
2. Low Student: Teacher Ratio
Our teachers are committed to student success! Instruction is provided teacher-to-student, teacher-to-student groups, and one-on-one. Instruction is supported by use of Chromebooks, Ipads, and Computer Labs.
We do combine students for a group setting, if proven beneficial for the classroom setting.
3. Peer & Group Social Discussions
Conversations are a normal process, however sometimes our children struggle with knowing "how" to start or maintain. We promote language groups, and social skills while in the classroom and lunch periods.
4. Specific Needs Addressed
Some students who are accepted at Benjamin Academy may have a dignosis of ADD/ADHD, Mild Autism, Asperger's, Mild Intellectual Delay, and Communication Disorders (verbal or non verbal). We provide individual learning plans for most students. For students not quite ready to transition to a classroom setting, our STAR program pairs 1-on-2 structured learning of skills needed to move on, when ready. Students who are accepted into our "anxiety free" environment must have independent use of bathroom hygiene and independent eating skills with no student behaviors.
Behavior or Conduct - Currently we are unable to serve students with Emotional and Behavioral Disorders, Behavior Intervention Plans, Oppositional Defiant Disorder or other Conduct Disorders.
